Health Minister Muchima Calls Faith Leaders Key Partners in Malaria Fight

Health Minister Elijah Muchima has emphasized the critical role of religious faith leaders in Zambia’s fight against malaria.
Dr. Muchima noted that despite recent data showing an increase in malaria cases and deaths, government remains fully committed to eliminating the disease. He explained that funding for malaria drugs and commodities for 2026 has already been secured to accelerate the fight.
Delivering the speech on his behalf in Livingstone, Southern Province Permanent Secretary Namani Monze highlighted the government’s determination during the End Malaria Regional Conference organized by FLAME Zambia.
Meanwhile, FLAME National Chairperson, Archbishop Albert Chama, appealed to government to allocate part of the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) to support Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) as a key intervention against malaria.
