CCPC Warns Against Deceptive Black Friday Promotions

The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has urged members of the public to be cautious of traders offering deceptive promotions during the Black Friday shopping period.

Speaking at a press briefing in Lusaka, CCPC Executive Director Eunice Hamahwa noted that while Black Friday provides businesses with an opportunity to gain a competitive edge through price competition, some traders exploit consumers by engaging in unfair practices.

Ms. Hamahwa explained that the Commission has maintained vigilance throughout the year through inspections of trading premises, consumer awareness activities, and market surveillance, including weekly price tracking.

She further disclosed that CCPC will intensify inspections and establish information desks in major shopping zones during the Black Friday period to ensure compliance with consumer protection laws.
