The Independent Broadcasting Authority (IBA) has issued a warning to KenMark Broadcasting Network Television (KBN TV) after finding the station in breach of broadcasting standards.
IBA Director General Webster Malido said the Board reviewed the Daylight Breakfast Show aired on October 7th, 2025, and found that it carried unsubstantiated claims, was poorly moderated, and featured a politician as an analyst without proper editorial justification.
KBN TV was summoned before the Authority on October 22nd and 30th, where the Board ruled that the station violated Sections 24 and 33 of the IBA Act.
Mr. Malido told ZNBC News that KBN TV has now been ordered to:
- Base all future analysis on verifiable facts
- Re-orient and train all on-air staff to improve moderation and editorial oversight
- Stop using politicians as analysts to safeguard impartiality
The station has been given 30 days, from November 26th to December 26th, to comply and submit a report. Mr. Malido further warned that any future breaches will attract tougher sanctions under Section 29 of the IBA Amendment Act.
