A 45-year-old woman has survived a brutal attack by two hyenas in Lundazi District, Eastern Province.
The victim, Malita Lungu of Vyose Village in Chief Mwase’s area, sustained serious injuries on both arms, the left side of her head, and her backside during the incident, which occurred on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, around 16:30 hours.
Eastern Province Police Commanding Officer Robertson Mweemba confirmed the attack, stating that Ms. Lungu was assaulted while in the company of two other women. She fell to the ground during the attack, where the hyenas continued biting her.
Alert villagers who heard her cries for help rushed to the scene and managed to rescue her. She was first taken to Lumezi Mission Hospital before being referred to Chipata District Hospital, where she is currently admitted.
