The Examinations Council of Zambia (ECZ) has clarified that a birth certificate is not mandatory for registering examination classes.
ECZ Executive Director Dr. Michael Chilala explained that the requirement is intended to enhance data integrity, ensuring candidate records align with those at the National Registration Office.
Speaking to the media in Lusaka, Dr. Chilala announced that the Council has introduced a new feature allowing parents to verify their children’s examination details via email. This follows complaints about name changes and errors, with parents urged to respond promptly to correction requests.
He further emphasized that the photo requirement in the registration process ensures the correct candidate sits for exams, helping to mitigate malpractice, particularly among GCE candidates.
