Peace has returned to Nakatindi Ward following the migration of a herd of elephants across the Zambezi River into neighbouring Zimbabwe.
Ward Councilor Jackson Hang’ombe confirmed that residents can now move freely and resume their daily activities without fear, after weeks of tension caused by animal-human conflict.
Nakatindi, located near the Mosi-Oa-Tunya Game Park, was among the areas most affected by the elephants’ presence.
Local resident Lungowe Nakakena expressed relief, noting that the community has resumed normal life now that the elephants have left.
This development highlights the ongoing challenges of wildlife-human coexistence in regions bordering national parks, while also underscoring the resilience of affected communities.
