Government, through the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, is undertaking major renovations at Lewanika General Hospital in Western Province.
Western Province Infrastructure and Maintenance Officer Francis Mwitumwa told ZNBC News that works on the children’s ward have been completed, along with the construction of a kitchen and dining hall at Lewanika Nursing School. He said the facilities are now awaiting official handover.
Mr. Mwitumwa explained that the renovation project is funded through the Preventive Maintenance Fund under the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development, with a budget exceeding 11 million kwacha.
Meanwhile, Divine Link Construction Company Director Silvester Simuchimba said only minor works, such as painting and cleaning at the Outpatient Department, remain and are expected to be completed by December 24, 2025.
