ZNBC Board, Management pays courtesy call on President Hakainde Hichilema

On July 11, 2025, the Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC) Board of Directors, and Management led by Board Chairperson, Bishop Joseph Kazihla, paid a courtesy call on President Hakainde Hichilema at State House.

The visit was a milestone as it was the first time the Board and Management was meeting President Hichilema.

The purpose of the visit was to brief the President on the state of ZNBC well as to update the President on ZNBCs future plans.

During the meeting, the ZNBC Board provided a detailed overview of the corporation’s challenges that included its legacy debt to Statutory institutions such as the National Pensions Authority (NAPSA) and the Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA), the challenge of converting that archive material that sits in the Information Resource Centre.

President Hichilema acknowledged ZNBC’s pivotal role in fulfilling its public service mandate and emphasized the need for the corporation to leverage innovation and emerging technologies to improve content delivery, unlock new revenue streams, and broaden its audience reach.

The President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting ZNBC’s transformation into a financially sustainable and technologically advanced public broadcaster. He urged the corporation to adopt investment-oriented approaches, moving away from consumption-driven practices.

During the meeting, Bishop Kazhila also extended an invitation to President Hichilema to tour the ZNBC Studios in Lusaka and Kitwe, an invitation that President Hichilema gladly accepted.
