Kuomboka Ceremony Set for March 28 in Mongu

By Sibeso Likezo

This year’s Kuomboka Ceremony will take place on March 28, with the royal barge, the Nalikwanda, expected to move from Lealui to Mulamba Harbor in Mongu District.

Announcing the date at the Mboo Kuta in Limulunga Royal Village, Ngambela Mukela Manyando said preparations are underway but noted that the clearing of the Moyowamo canals remains a challenge.

He explained that blocked waterways at Mulamba Harbor, the docking venue, may hinder the smooth passage of the Nalikwanda from Lealui to Limulunga Royal Village, potentially delaying the arrival of His Majesty King Lubosi Imwiko II if the situation is not addressed.

Mr. Manyando has appealed to government to assist the Barotse Royal Establishment by clearing the vital canals from Lealui to Limulunga, as well as the route leading to Mulamba Harbor in Mongu.
