Nalumango Calls For Unity at Pamodzi Carnival

Vice President MUTALE NALUMANGO has urged Zambians to embrace the country’s cultural diversity and unite in order to inspire future generations. Mrs. NALUMANGO says Zambians should use the 73 tribes as a tool to promote unity and development in the nation.

The Vice President says the present generation must show unity and inspire future generations not to look at each other as people from different tribes but as a group of Zambians. Speaking when she officially opened the Second Pamodzi Carnival at the Lusaka Showgrounds , Mrs. NALUMANGO said the event has potential to promote cultural tourism and diversification.

Mrs. NALUMANGO said the arts and culture sector can contribute to government’s agenda to diversify the economy away from mining. She said the sector has a huge potential to attract tourists and earn the country money.

And Tourism Minister RODNEY SIKUMBA said the ministry is working on transforming the Pamodzi Carnival into a big cultural event capable of attracting international tourists. Mr. SIKUMBA said in the last two years, the ministry has supported various traditional ceremonies and sampled different foods which can be used for food tourism at the carnival.

The Minister said the various foods at the Pamodzi Carnival show the diversity and unity in the country.
